Dow Contaminates Compost
The widespread use of a class of very persistent herbicides in turf and agricultural applications is threatening the composting industry. Plants that are grown in compost containing persistent herbicides can be damaged or killed by the herbicide residues, thus making this compost unmarketable. Dow AgroSciences manufacturers the leading persistent herbicide in question, clopyralid, also known by its product name Confront.
The Grass Roots Recycling Network is actively campaigning to have Dow stop the production of these persistent herbicides for turf and agricultural uses.
