“My name is niall murphy and i m gonna take you true setting up a a partner community in salesforce. So first thing. I m going to do is navigate the communities area within setup. So i ve clicked on setup and now i m clicking on all communities and here i m going to create a new community.
So i m going to click to get started here give it a name okay. So the community s been created first thing. I m going to do is go into administration here. I m activate the community normally we might want to do this at the end of the process.
But just for today s demonstration. I m gonna do it now to start so we don t forget now i m going to go to the community builder. So this is our drag and drop and visual tools for configuring the look and feel and the functionality within the community first thing. I m going to do is we have our standard partner template here which is absolutely fine and but i wanted to show you that we ve got the ability to switch the look and feel to various different teams of our choosing so i quite like this jepson team so i m gonna select that one and activate it here just so we have a slightly different look and feel that makes our community stand out and maybe aligns with the corporate and website for our particular brand.
Okay great that team has been installed so i m gonna remove some of these elements that don t quite match up okay great and i m gonna add it this hero component as it s called here so again these are new configuration controls that we have available to us and since the summer release so i m gonna adjust the height of this component here don t have a take up so much space. And i want to update. The content here so for the purposes of day. Today s presentation.
Jepsen is going to be our fictitious company that set up this partner community. Okay so we can see here. Now that we have have a welcome message to our community that we ve got our search up top and we ve got some links to contact and partner events and we ve got our various partner community components that are available to us so first thing. I m going to update is the dashboards here.
I m going to put in a partner community..
Relevant dashboard here so just simple pipeline quota lead analysis. I m going to update. This component as well so we re looking at our open deals on the side. And i can see we ve got tasks here already okay so we ve quite a lot of content.
Now that we ve added into our community. We have leads opportunities dashboards tasks and this will all be personalized to the user that s logging into the community and i might want to add and other types of more kind of static content as well and i ve got the option to use tools like cms. Connect where i might pull in content from blog or some other and source of information. And i can use html editor rich text components.
But i wanted to show you today. The new native content capability that exists within salesforce so salesforce now has the ability to manage content internally in the application and rich text format and then let you publish it to your community site in multiple locations. If needed with various form factors. So if i click here to add content.
I m going to select this piece of content that s promoting dreamforce and it s showing me what it looks like basically. I ve got some options here that i can you know change. The look and feel of this maybe i don t want to see yep. I want try maybe a card layout full inline.
It ll give me the various different options here for my particular content and then when i m happy with it i can beside where wants to live. I m gonna push it to the side here and that looks good. I think okay so one other area that comes up quite. Often in these partner community use cases is the idea of training materials.
Sharing files with your partners also sharing and you know it might be forms for price lists quotes..
Other templates that your partners need so libraries is a really good tool to manage this type of requirement again i can drag and drop. The component into the community you manage your libraries and the internal application again. What libraries are visible to your partner will be personalized to them based on the permissions in the application. Okay so i m gonna go ahead and click on publish here.
Okay. Let s switch now to see what this looks like for one of our partners. An easy way to do this is within your crm to navigate to one of your partner context and click on the log in as button associated with that contact so we can see here that nader. I m logged in as a user here paul partner and i ve got personalized content.
That s relevant to me so i ve got leads that are relevant to me i can see my specific opportunities. The content here in terms of the libraries are relevant to me as well i can click in and preview. The content and documents here. I can see my open deals.
I can see the content that we ve created as well i m gonna go ahead. And accept some of these leads. And it s going to bring me to the lead page and i could update the information on this lead. I can add them to marketing campaigns and so on here as well okay.
I m gonna also click through into one of these opportunities. So one of the things that i might want to do as i m working an opportunity with a customer and send them a quote. So i m gonna go ahead. And do here i want to prepare a quote for a customer.
So i m gonna fill in some information about my quote click on save and click into that particular quote and now i m going to take advantage of the configure price quote functionality..
That s available in salesforce and that can be exposed through the partner community as well so here i m going to add products and i ve got access to my product catalog. And the configuration rules will apply here so depending on what rules exist for what products go with what other products you ll only need let me configure them in certain ways i m gonna click on save and you know finally i m here when i save my quote mer with my products. I could if i wanted to generate the actual quote document and email. It to the end customer and so on so you know part of the goal here is to take some of the friction out of the process for partners make it easy for them to configure the products that they need to sell right pricing on the products and to generate the documentation that they need to generate as part of their sales process.
So that can be very powerful for driving efficiency within your partner channel. If i navigate it to the same opportunities through the menus here we can see that it behaves much the same way your internal salesforce menus behave and that s because it s the same type of component behind the scene you ve got all the same capabilities. If i want to do kanban views and move things around using the kanban view which again is a nice productivity tool. I want to use charts against my list view i can do that as well change.
The filters and so are all those controls are available to me nice and easy another area that s often important is marketing capabilities. So here. I ve got access to the campaign marketplace. Which is a standard capability now in the solution that allows you to create this marketplace.
Where as a partner. I can come in i can see information about the events. The activities that are being run and i can add my leads as a partner to this particular event so that s a great productivity tool. I can get my leads my contacts into the overall marketing campaigns that are being run by the parent organization.
One other area here is the idea of market development funds and the idea here is fairly simple that you know you can set up budgets for your particular partners and to create market development. So say for example you have a partner that s operating in germany. Maybe you don t have an indirect sales team in germany you might want them to do marketing on your behalf to attend events on your heart on your behalf and so this is just standard capability again within the solution. But it s using you know salesforce standard objects and processes.
So that i can view as a partner..
I can create fund requests here so for example dreamforce and and i m gonna need thousand dollars here for this particular event and then the channel partner manager can view the requests that are coming in approved emerton item. And then subsequently i can come in as well and make claims against those requests when i have my receipts and my expenses filed afterwards so simple kind of overview some of the capabilities within the partner community. If i log out here and go back to the internals you in the application will see that as the channel manager then i ve gotten access to all that information across all my partners around what s going on here. So if i come in look at the homepage here.
I can see of course all my partners and what s happening in terms of the performance. Which partners are doing the best in terms of sales and so on and i can drill into any of these dashboards to get further information and drill into a specific partner. I m one of the things that i might want to do here is look at the channel plan for this particular partner. So.
This is an agreed channel program and channel plan that i might have set up with the particular partner and i can see information around the objectives associated with that plan and because it s within and the same platform as the community that information is shared. I with the particular partner as well so it s not just something that it s once a quarter or once a year. The channel plan is created it s a living document that both sides can contribute to over time here. We can see as well that we ve got instant access to those requests that were coming in for event.
Support for dreamforce and i can click in and view details of those requests and approve or denied a request as needed so as a channel manager. I ve got access to all the information that s coming in from the partner. I can see the information about their sales performance. I can see if they log on e cases if they need marketing funds if they were adding users to my campaigns and so on so i ve got a very good insight into the health of my marketing program.
